Displaced, 2016
Sound recording

The original sound for Displaced was gathered in Chittagong, Bangladesh, where the world’s disused ships are manually disassembled and recycled. It was then transported to Bergen, Norway, where it was played inside a repurposed grain silo, now the Bergen School of Architecture. The resulting sound, re-recorded in Norway, demonstrates the natural resonant frequencies of one of the structure’s six-story chambers, articulated by the sound of outsourced precarious labor.
