POINT BLANK, 2016
Installation with photographic light boxes (80 × 120 × 15 cm), architectural model, window signage
In collaboration with Evangelos Papamatthäou-Matschke
“Where advertising space falls silent, consumerism exposes its scars.”
The installation POINT BLANK made visible persistent economic disparity between Greece and Germany, both EU and eurozone member states, by portraying scenes of dilapidated, blank billboards in the Greek landscape via the aesthetics of a speculative real estate showroom, roughly modeled on Bauwerk Capital’s luxury housing project “FRIENDS” in Munich. Always visible from the street through two large showroom windows, passersby of the installation could view it day and night without needing to enter the gallery.
A monograph of the project was published by Reflektor M, a platform for contemporary art in Munich, in collaboration with 100for10, a Munich-based initiative for distinctive, affordably priced artist books. (Click here to purchase)
